"Give us this day our daily bread." (Matthew 6:11, BSB)
In most Indian homes, rotis are made fresh. Nobody cooks a month's worth of rotis in one go and eats them stale. Fresh bread is part of the family rhythm. Jesus teaches us to pray the same way. "Give us this day our daily bread." Not a month's supply. Not a year's. Today's. That line reaches back to the wilderness. God fed Israel with manna, and it came daily. Keep it overnight, and it spoiled (Exodus 16:19-20). It taught them to depend on Him one day at a time. But that bread was a shadow. Jesus said so plainly: "Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died... I am the living bread that came down from heaven" (John 6:49, 51). The real Bread is a Person. So when you pray for daily bread, you're asking for more than food. You're saying, "Father, I want Christ today.
