"The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say, 'and to seeds,' meaning many, but 'and to your seed,' meaning One, who is Christ." (Galatians 3:16, BSB)
Every Indian family knows the power of one name on a property paper. The land can be big. The family can be bigger. But the paper names one person. Paul reads God's promise to Abraham that way. God said, "to you and to your seed" (Genesis 12:7). Paul points out the little word. It's seed, not seeds. And he says who that one Seed is. "Meaning One, who is Christ." That changes the whole story. The Jewish people were proud to be Abraham's children by birth, and rightly grateful for it. But the promise was never meant to stop at bloodlines. It was always aiming at one Person. So the blessing didn't come through a nation's effort. It came through Christ. Every promise God made landed in Him. "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are 'Yes' in Christ" (2 Corinthians 1:20).
